Born in India and classically trained in both Western and Carnatic traditions, Charu moved to the United States to further her musical journey, earning a degree from Princeton University. Her groundbreaking approach to blending traditional Indian ragas with jazz improvisation has established her as a distinctive voice in contemporary music. Charus debut album, Lollipops for Breakfast, received critical praise, followed by The Book of Ragas, which solidified her reputation as an innovator. Her performances at prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall and appearances at global festivals have captivated audiences with their intricate melodies and cross-cultural appeal.An avid storyteller through music, Charu continues to push boundaries with her compositions, creating works that bridge diverse musical genres and traditions.
