Spirits Class – Whiskey & Casks: Brandy Cask Edition at Bridgeview Liquor – Moorhead, MN

As whiskeys aged in second-use casks become more popular and common, many whiskey drinkers may find themselves wondering how those casks really affect the final whiskey? What aromas and flavors should you expect each different cask to impart? To help explore these questions further, we plan to delve deep into the most common second use casks, tasting both the original product and a whiskey aged in that type of cask, to truly understand the flavors different casks impart. 

In this first edition of a new series, Evan Christie will focus on brandy casks – specifically Cognac, Armagnac, and apple brandy. You will have the chance to taste and learn about examples of each spirit as well as whiskies aged in each type of cask. Expect to compare and contrast both the brandies and the whiskies you taste, and gain a deeper understanding of how these products interact via the use of casks.
