Meet us at Maitland Community Park for an afternoon of outdoor fun, board games, food, arts and crafts, and hanging out with your Queer and Trans comrades!
Pride At The Park is brought to you in collaboration with: Basically Wonderful, Access Pride Coalition, CHXNGE Harm Reduction, Ripple Hauxs, Blue Trunk Community Network, Central Florida Mutual Aid, Florida Access Network, Queering The Dots, and S.W.A.M.P.
Activities!
- Bracelet-making! Make whatever your heart desires with thread, elastic string, seed beads, pony beads, letter beads, and various charms and clasps.
- Kickball! Join a casual pickup game with other Queers who really wanna kick a ball and run around a little bit.
- Board games! From a classic game of Clue to a heated game of Uno, we’ll have a wide array of table-top board games and card games for you to play.
- Coloring & crafting! Use our coloring books, construction paper, origami paper, markers, pencils, crayons, and more to create the craft of your dreams.
- Outdoor activities! We’re bringing kites, bubbles, badminton rackets, chalk, football, frisbees, and more to enjoy our time outside.
- Sno-cones! Indulge in a chilly treat to help beat the heat. And with any extra snow, we wouldn’t be mad if you made your first Florida snowman.
Info & Accessibility!
- This event is entirely free to attend and participate in.
- No RSVP required, but we do like it tbh (helpful to know how many folks we gotta feed!).
- Event Address: Maitland Community Park, 1400 Mayo Ave, Maitland, FL 32751. We’ll be at Pavillion #2 (the bigger pavilion at the park) (don’t worry we’ll make it obvious where the gay people are).
- Parking is free and ample on site! The parking lot is paved, and there are disabled placard parking spots available near the front of the pavilion. Paved sidewalks lead to the pavilion.
- We will keep walkways clear and tables as accessible as we can for wheelchair users.
- Individually-packaged small plates/light bites and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided – vegan options will be available.
- There will be designated areas for people who would like to eat/need to sit and unmask, otherwise we ask you please keep your mask on while spending time under the pavilion and in close quarters with other guests.
- We will have N-95 and KN-95 masks available for anyone who needs one. (If you’re asking yourself “Why are they still saying we should wear a mask?” then click here for a summarized answer, and then go do more research.)
- A speaker will be playing music throughout the event, we will try to keep the volume as low as we can.
- Earplugs, hand fans, and fidgets will be available to help with sensory needs.
- Dogs are welcome at the park! We’re asking dogs and humans alike to be mindful of excessive barking and respecting personal space.
- Restrooms are located indoors, in the park’s community center. It is a few minutes down a paved sidewalk to reach the building.
- This event is a family-friendly space open to any LGBTQIA+ community member, and allies are welcome.
