(I Was a Lonely Estate) was one of the original Emo Revival bands, alongside their contemporaries in Algernon Cadwallader, Snowing and Into It. Over It. They were known for their clean guitars that wove beautiful melodies and delicate vocals that rose from a whisper to a roar as distorted guitars kicked in over heavy bass and crashing drums. Cutting their teeth relentlessly touring the US and eventually the world from basements to large stages, they celebrated a decade run from 2006-2016 before they hung it up for what they thought was the final time. In the aftermath of the break up, lead singer/guitarist Keith Latinen has carried on with new musical projects and is actively touring and writing in a full band solo-project Mt. Oriander, as well as an Emo Revival supergroup called Parting that features members of Dowsing and Annabel. Time has a funny way of changing things, and their popularity slowly grew in their absence. Each show Latinen played with his new projects, fans brought the same question over and over again- When was Empire! Empire! coming back? Latinen had no plans to revive his old band, turning down request after request to bring it back. But when they were asked to reunite for a spot at the Best Friends Forever Festival in Las Vegas. NV with many of their favorite bands and biggest influences, the opportunity was finally too great to pass up. After 9 years, they dusted off their instruments and decided to take one more run before retiring again (or until the Detroit Lions win the Super Bowl- a promise the band has maintained during the years since they disbanded). The Lions may win it all someday, but even if you believe in miracles, this is probably the only chance you will have to see Empire! Empire!. Dont miss it.
