Come join us at the Tree of Life Nursery for a hands-on Prickly Pear Harvesting Workshop! Learn all about the cultural importance of these delicious desert fruits and how to safely and ethically harvest them from the garden. Abe will teach you the best techniques for gathering prickly pears and you will be able to take them home along with some recipes to choose from.

This in-person event is perfect for nature lovers and home cooks alike! Don’t miss this unique opportunity to connect with nature and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

To participate, please BRING:

1) Bucket or container to collect prickly pears

2) Thick dishwashing gloves

3) Pocket knife or small knife

4) Pruners

5) Kitchen tongs

During the workshop you will learn how to make a small brush made of twigs to assist with removing the thorns.

$15 fee includes U-Pick prickly pears, handmade brush, hands-on instruction for gathering and processing the fruit and a selection of recipes to choose from to cook / prepare at home.

This workshop will focus on harvesting and preparing the prickly pears only and we will not be cooking at the workshop.
