Join us for our Sip & Tour on September 5 at 5PM! Our Museum Manager will lead you on a guided tour through our exhibition, The SuperNatural 2.0, while you enjoy a special cocktail inspired by the artwork on display.

This month’s cocktail, “Birds OFF Paradise,” is inspired by Eduardo Sarabia’s Ceiba Sagrada 22. The work draws on layered histories, mythologies, and cultural exchanges that migrate across borders — melding sacred symbolism with everyday narratives. The ceiba tree, revered in many Indigenous cosmologies as a bridge between worlds, becomes in Sarabia’s work both a rooted presence and a channel for transformation.

The cocktail itself mirrors this act of crossing and blending. Its foundation of añejo tequila carries deep, oaken notes that ground the drink much like the cebia’s roots. The kummel (aquavit) introduces a Northern European spice tradition, unexpectedly weaving into Mexican spirit — a cultural dialogue not unlike Sarabia’s fusions of sacred and popular imagery. Green tomato and pineapple add a vegetal-tropical tension: tart, bright, and alive, suggesting growth, migration, and adaptation. The lime cuts through, a reminder of freshness and the cyclical return to origins.

Together, artwork and cocktail speak to a balance of ancestry and experimentation, rootedness, and exchange — a sacred tree reimagined as liquid ritual, where each sip, like Sarabia’s imagery, expands the boundaries of cultural identity and storytelling.
