WNL: 2025 Black Carolina Residency Reception at Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture – Charlotte, NC
Don’t miss this upcoming event in Charlotte, NC. Happening on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture. Doors open at 6:00 PM.
Join the community celebration of the Gantt’s 2025 Black Carolina Artist Residency (BCAR) cohort. To honor their completion of the residency, the five-artist cohort will share reflections and highlights from their experience in the BCAR, the intentionality behind their community projects, and next steps in their careers.
This reception is a great opportunity for the community to both connect with the BCAR artists and learn more about the Black Carolina Collective (BCC), an intentionally curated community of Black artists from the Carolinas, whose members receive exclusive development opportunities, such as the BCAR. Black artists of varying disciplines and career levels are encouraged to join this reception to learn how to be a BCC member and how to apply to the 2026 BCAR.
The reception will include free light bites and an open beer and wine bar.

More about the Black Carolina Artist Residency
The Harvey B. Gantt Center’s Black Carolina Artist Residency (BCAR) is one half of the Black Carolina Initiative. As a result of the Wallace Arts Initiative’s support, the BCAR is a 6-month intensive artist residency designed to strengthen and sustain the well-being of our organization and community through the vision, development, and contributions of artists as community leaders.
The BCAR selects an annual cohort of 5 diversely talented Black artists from the Carolinas to be cultivated with an equity and social justice lens and to implement in-community projects informed by their work.
