Battle of the Bands 2025 – Big3s Swing Dance

Clarkston Arts presents the Battle of the Bands / BIG 3 Swing Dance Saturday, March 15, 2025 at the Masonic Temple , Crystal Ballroom in Detroit, MI.

Featuring returning champion, Stardusters Big Band vs Eight-time Battle of the Bands winner, Paul King & the Rhythm Society Orchestra. This will be a rematch of epic musical proportions!

Stardusters from Clarkston specializes in the elegance of the Big Band Era Swing.

Paul King & the Rhythm Society Orchestra from Detroit specializes in swing from the mid-1930s through the late 1940s. Its sound is influenced by Count Basie and Harry James and has covered top swing venues throughout the Midwest. The band has been nominated for multiple Detroit Music Awards including Best Big Band/Swing Artists.

Dancers of all skill levels are welcome to the 24th year of swing dancing. Many come just to enjoy the sights and sounds. Dress is snappy casual to semi-formal or vintage attire. General admission begins at 6:30 p.m. with a dance lesson from 7 to 8:pm. The band will hit the stage at 8:15 p.m. and perform until midnight. There is a cash bar available throughout the evening with a 50/50 raffle opportunity.

This in-person event promises to be an unforgettable night filled with electrifying performances and infectious swing rhythms.

Tickets are $30 per person in advance or $35 at the door. Add $5 for the optional lesson. Tables of ten may be reserved in advance at no additional charge. The BIG3s pull dancers and non-dancers from all ages together for an incredible evening of music and dance. If you don’t know how to dance, come join the many that soak in the sights and sounds of an unforgettable evening. The previous BIG3s have brought more than 14,000 people together.
