Wine and Chocolate – “Food of the Gods”.

Do you like wine? Do you like chocolate? If you said yes to both, this is the mid-winter event for you. Squamscott Winery will be teaming up with local Master Chocolatier Ann Czaja to pair local Lindt Chocolate with local Blue Heron wines. You will enjoy five samples of our dry, aromatic, old world style red and white wines expertly paired with five Lindt Excellence and Classic Recipe chocolates expertly crafted by Lindt Master Chocolatiers and manufactured in Stratham, NH.

According to an article in Smithsonian magazine etymologists trace the origin of the word “chocolate” to the Aztec word “xocoatl,” which referred to a bitter drink brewed from cacao beans. The Latin name for the cacao tree, Theobroma cacao, means “food of the gods.”

And we know Bacchus was the Roman God of wine and merrymaking. There is evidence of wine-making and consumption in Europe dating back to approximately 4400–4000 BCE. Needless to say humans have been enjoying chocolate and wine for a very, very long time – and we are happy to be continuing the tradition.

W e have curated five of our award winning dry red and white wines with a rich and refined chocolate that has been perfectly paired to let your mind explore the flavors by themselves and together.

F rom “Bean to Bar”

T he Lindt chocolate is taken from “bean to bar” just several miles from the winery – this the best in local chocolate.

F rom “Vine to Glass”

W e produce all of our wines, and everything we produce is made from the grapes grown in our vineyard, just “feet” away from the tasting room – this is the best in local wine. We use low sulfites, and do not add sugar to the wine after it has been fermented dry.

You will enjoy the chocolate and wine at our cozy tasting room located very close to the “tank room” where our wines are still aging from our 2024, 2023 and 2022 vintage.

All of our wines are handcrafted. For us handcrafted means, harvested, crushed, fermented, aged, and bottled with a “hands on” approach. And always a celebration with those that love being part of something that is a “dance” with nature.
