The prestigious Excellence Awards gala is presented by the 24-hour Afroglobal Television channel. The mission of the Afroglobal Television Excellence Awards program is to showcase the aspirations and achievements of individuals, organizations, businesses and agencies that make a profound difference in the lives of people of African descent worldwide, and to transform the communities where they live. Recipients and other guests are from North America, Europe, Africa, the Caribbean and beyond. Since 2004, the red carpet awards gala has has honourned achievers and brought together people of African background and others of goodwill, to celebrate inspiring success stories. Headliners and Keynote speakers have included, Dr. Bernice King, CEO of the King Centre and daughter of Civil Rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.; legendary South African singer, Yvonne Chaka Chaka; and Dr. Julius Garvey, son of Marcus Garvey.
