BOOMBOX returns SATURDAY with turntable terrors DJ MELO-D [Beat Junkies] + DJ AS-IS [OG Sunday]!!

One of the most accomplished DJs of all time, the don MELO-D has mastered more skills than most can dream of! Joining the legendary Beat Junkies crew in 1992, he won the Vestax World Championship in 1995, followed by ITF World Team Championships in 1997 and 1998 with his Beat Junkie brothers. During this period he made the rare transition to primetime radio where he blessed the Los Angeles airwaves with his signature mixing style for 12+ years on stations like 92.3 The Beat and KDAY. He then pivoted again taking his skills to Las Vegas where he headlined some of the biggest rooms in the country for years. More recently he helped found the Beat Junkie Institute of Sound in 2017…a state of the art DJ school that’s “Building Better DJs” on a daily basis in Glendale, CA. If all that wan’t enough, he just opened Made From Skratch Pizza in Redlands, CA! We couldn’t be more honored to welcome one of the best to ever do it back to our turntabes!

Originally from the DJ hotbed of San Jose, CA, our brother AS-IS has a multi-faceted skillset that truly makes him one of one. Inspired by the sounds of 90’s hip hop, he found his way behind the turntables by the age of 16, proving his skills at various DJ battles like DMC, Red Bull The3Style, and Across The Fader. He made the move to Los Angeles in 2010 and has been holding it down on the LA club circuit ever since, including founding his legendary OG Sunday party in 2010. Even with a successful DJ career, he still finds other outlets for his creativity including his own production [“I Hope You Like It” out now], throwing his own “Who Wants To Battle” DJ competition, and even releasing a book of poetry [“Isims” out now]! We are hyped to finally welcome the homie to our decks for his debut Boombox set!

Since September 2nd, 2006, Boombox has provided a home for Los Angeles hip hop lovers to gather every first Saturday of the month and celebrate the genre’s most respected DJs and producers.
