Books & Books presents… Writing Sprints with Cortney Casey

So, you’ve wanted to start writing, but you’re not sure how. Or maybe you’re an established writer craving community.

No matter your experience level, join a casual group of written word aficionados during our first Writing Sprints event, led by Books & Books’ own Cortney Casey. Cort signed with a literary agent earlier this year and is preparing to go out on submission to publishers with her debut novel, so she knows a thing or two about what it takes to face the page and write your heart out. During this event, she’ll be leading writing sprints (timed periods of writing), offering optional writing prompts, and acting as your personal cheerleader as you push your project to the finish line. We’ll be convening at the beginning and end of the session to chat, answer publishing questions and share a sentence or paragraph we’re particularly proud of. In between, we’ll be silently writing. Bring your laptop, notebook, and/or whatever other tools you need to write. This event is all about good vibes and encouragement! Tickets are $10 and include a glass of wine, pint of beer, or coffee, tea or latte.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

A native of Michigan, Cortney “Cort” Casey is an award-winning journalist, author, former small business owner and Books & Books’ bookseller/merchandising manager living in Miami. She’s represented by Kim Witherspoon of InkWell Management and is preparing to go out on submission to publishers soon with her upmarket family drama/mystery, STILL LIFE WITH DANDELIONS. A die-hard “pantser” (a writer who discovers the story as they go along, in contrast to “plotters,” who plan the story out in advance), Cort believes there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to writing and that the most important writing technique is the one that keeps you creating!
