Growing Pak Choy for the Home Garden at Urban Garden Center – Pearl City, HI
Don’t miss this upcoming event in Pearl City, HI. Happening on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Urban Garden Center. Doors open at 10:00 AM.
Please join us to learn how to grow pak (bok) choi in raised beds on a continual basis (“succession planting”). Tour the nursery area to see examples of raised bed units and various methods of growing pak choi. This session is intended for beginning gardeners.
The session will cover:
- An introduction to the Pearl City Urban Garden, Master Gardener Program, and the Master Gardener Training Garden (MGTG).
- Getting all the cloud documents we have produced for the MGTG by scanning the QR code at the MGTG entrance.
- Different methods of growing pak choi on a continual basis.
- Typical pests encountered and what to do.
- Typical disease encountered and what to do.
UGC Guidelines:
- Parents/guardians must provide supervision of minors during the event to ensure their safety and security.
- All participants will be asked to sign a UH consent waiver form upon arrival.
- Bring drinking water to stay hydrated.
- Wear appropriate outdoor attire: shoes and sun protection.
- Only guide dogs are allowed at UGC. No pets allowed.
- The back gardens are closed to self-tours.
