Abraham Lincoln visited Gettysburg on November 18-19, 1863 to help dedicate the new Soldiers National Cemetery. Many of the places he visited are still here today. We will explore Lincoln’s visit from the time he steps off the train at Gettysburg’s depot, to the Wills House where he spent the night, to the Presbyterian Church, where he attended a political rally. You will hear stories of what he experienced and the civilians’ perspectives of this important visit. The guide will explain the significance of the cemetery and why it was formed and you will understand why Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address still resonated to this day.
