Cut Chemist: Disco is Dead at Sister – Albuquerque, NM

Back on July 17, 2010 Cinespia in Los Angeles screened “Saturday Night Fever” at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Before the movie Cut Chemist performed a set of classics from 1973-1979.

DJ Leftovers will start out the evening with all vinyl funk/soul, followed by Cut Chemist performing a Disco is Dead set. Adobe Disco closes out the evening with disco tinged house.

Cut Chemist has been recording and performing for nearly 30 years. Known as a turntablist, he started his journey into djing at age 11. By the time he was 14 year old, Cut started recording with his friends (including Chali 2na of Jurassic 5) in an enclosed sun patio that his dad converted into a small make-shift recording studio. By age 21, Cut was a founding member of both the rap group Jurassic 5 and the Grammy award winning Latin funk outfit, Ozomatli. In the years following, Cut started a series of mix cds with DJ Shadow using all 45s. Brainfreeze, Product Placement and The Hard Sell, the last of which debuted and headlined at the world famous Hollywood Bowl.

Leftover Soul is an all vinyl soul night that has been taking place in downtown Albuquerque for over 11 years, helmed by DJ Leftovers.

Adobe Disco is a community focused dance party pushing disco and house music rooted in soul and funk from the 70s to now.
