THE BIG SMILE PROJECT was started by Blessing Chimanga 10 years ago as a way of giving back to the community and to less privileged children all over Zimbabwe. Blessing believes in the future of children and that every child deserves shelter, food, education, and a standard life in order to reach their maximum potential. Over the past 10 years, Blessing has helped over 10 orphanage homes with blankets, food, school wear, winter wear, and school fees. The BigSmile Project is a movement that has helped hundreds of children across Zimbabwe. Every year, Blessing Chimanga sets apart a concert to fundraise towards the goal of that year.
BigSmile is currently paying school fees for 10 children in the rural village of Chihota in Zimbabwe. The goal this year is to add 20 more children to this list and also help the school administration by providing 2 computers. This will enable them to carry out basic administrative work digitally instead of using pen and paper, as they are currently doing.
It is our desire at BigSmile that this year we also sponsor the school’s prize-giving day to encourage students to work hard and receive recognition for their efforts.Another goal for 2025 is to host a Christmas party for a selected orphanage home—bringing joy to children who wish to experience a normal Christmas. Due to the loss of parents and life in a shelter, many of these children do not have that privilege. We hope to surprise each child with a basic Christmas present and help them feel loved during the festive season. We will also continue with our annual pads drive, supporting the girl child with access to basic sanitary pads.
This year Rex Peoples and Northwoods join the line up in using music as a tool of hope for the children in Zimbabwe.
Your GIVING will go a long way in giving hope to a child living in a village, longing for a standard life like others.
