2025 Bells of Summer Sunday Carillon Concert Series at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel – Chicago, IL

Summer is the season of outdoor carillon concerts! Every summer, we host carillon concerts on Sundays at 5-6 PM for eight weeks, each week featuring a different recitalist from across North America and Europe. Each of them will play a unique program on the 72-bell carillon at Rockefeller Memorial Chapel at the University of Chicago, including both original carillon music and pieces arranged from other instruments.

During the concert, we recommend listening outside from the east lawn. (You are encouraged to bring a picnic and blankets!) Alternatively, you can take a seat inside the chapel with a livestream of the playing cabin in the tower. After the concert, an optional 45-min tower tour will take you up the 271 steps through the chapel attic, the hour chime mechanism, the belfries, the playing cabin, and finally to the 360º rooftop.

The event is free of charge and open to all with no RSVP needed. Suggested donation: $5, free with UChicago ID. The chapel is also open to visitors every week Tuesday through Friday 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., with carillon tower tours beginning at 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Additional information can be found on the guild linktree.
