Support Black Theatre, The CRAFT Institute, and African-American Shakespeare Company join forces to host the first ever L.A. Black Creators Summit!

This one-night-only event includes an engaging community dialogue with Ruben Santiago-Hudson, a performance of Echoes of US directed by Michele Shay, a panel discussion with thought-leaders in our field, delicious food, fellowship, and more!

Distinguished actor, writer, and director Ruben Santiago-Hudson sits down for a community discussion moderated by Support Black Theatre founding Executive Director, Sophina Brown. This timely dialogue explores how cultural rituals—inherited and reimagined—can be vehicles for resistance, and how our history informs strategies for power building today. We illuminate the enduring influence of Black creativity and communal care in shaping movements for justice and liberation. Audience Q & A to follow!

Echoes of US

ECHOES OF US is a short series of curated monologues from writers spanning the African Diaspora including Pearl Cleage, Mfoniso Udofia, Richard Wesley, Erin Michelle Washington, Monica White Ndounou, Fati McKinnies, Gabrielle Jackson, and more! This creative expression of Blackness is a unique live experience that speaks to the evolving nature of our lived experiences and transcends across generations. Featuring: Brent Jennings (All American), Tina Lifford (Queen Sugar), Desean K. Terry (The Morning Show), Sola Bamis (Mad Men), Joy DeMichelle (Snowfall), Henry Simmons (Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).
