Zaire Peace Corps Fisheries and Friends Reunion 1984-87

Yes, finally, after 40 years, the Peace Corps fisheries Zaire training class of the fall of 1984 is having a reunion. We’ve been terrible about keeping in touch and now we’re going to fix that.

Over Labor Day weekend 2026, we’ll gather in Washington, DC for a couple of days of remembrances, photo sharing, life updates, great food and plenty to drink. If you were in the Norman, OK class of ’84 or you were one of our trainers in OK or Bukavu or one of our many Regional Reps and support staff, please RSVP here for this reunion.

Many more details will come soon, but the basic idea is we’ll gather at Mike Tidwell’s house in the DC area the afternoon of Saturday September 5th for a cookout. Then Sunday we’ll spend the day at nearby Rock Creek Park in DC for a day-long picnic, hikes, corn hole, etc. Then for those still in town Monday, we’ll gather for breakfast and send everyone on their way.

The DC-based organizers — me, Sandy Remancus, and Bradt Witte — will take the lead in organizing most of this. We’ll handle food logistics and get a good discount on block hotel reservations in DC. So please RSVP so we can get started.
