Alexander “Sasha” Yakub is an award-winning violinist with a repertoire spanning from early to contemporary music. He has premiered a number of compositions written for him, including music by Forrest Eimold, Golnaz Shariatzadeh, Paul Mortilla, and others. Sasha has been an Akademist at the Lucerne Festival and a Fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center, serving there as concertmaster for the Myrios recording of In Seven Days by Thomas Adès, which won the “Contemporary” category in the 2021 International Classical Music Awards. He studied violin with Leila Josefowicz, Miranda Cuckson and Giovina Sessions, and holds degrees from Harvard University and the Mannes School of Music. This season saw Sasha’s debut recital tour as a Piatigorsky Foundation artist. Besides domestic recitals in Texas and New York, this summer will feature appearances at the Davos Festival (Switzerland) and Windwood Festival (Canada).
