The Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra invites you to an evening of discovery and delight with two exciting world premieres by composer-in-residence, Michael Shapiro. Shapiros Zoomies! is a playful and energetic new work inspired by the joyful, unpredictable bursts of energy we love in our canine companions. The spotlight turns to celebrated violinist Tim Fain for the world premiere of Shapiros Violin Concerto: At the Shore of the Sea. Lyrical and expansive, this evocative work reflects the meeting point between land and water expressed through Fains breathtaking virtuosity. Anchoring the program is Felix Mendelssohns Symphony No. 1 in C minor, Op. 11, a brilliant and passionate work composed when Mendelssohn was just 15. The program begins with Mendelssohns The Hebrides Overture, a richly atmospheric tone poem inspired by the rugged beauty of Scotlands coastline. Join us for a concert that journeys from whimsical to profound, featuring new music with heart and humor.
